An arrest has been made in the death of five-year-old Paitin Fields but what exactly happened to her is unknown.
Many of you have asked for updates, but there are little to no answers about what exactly happened to Paitin Fields.
The Pender County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Fields 19-year-old uncle in her murder.
David Wesley Prevatte, 19, is currently incarcerated on the charges of intimidating a witness and communicating threats. Authorities say on April 28, Prevatte called his mother, Lisa Hunt threatening the life of the lead investigator in the uncharged murder and sexual assault of the 5-year-old child.
According to warrants, Prevatte told his mom, “When I get out, Leatherwood (the lead investigator) got it coming to him and I will probably go back to jail.” He also allegedly said, “Leatherwood is coming to an end…and I been in here plotting. I hope they know that. That’s all I been doing.”
From the sound of things, it seems like Prevatte may have killed Fields or maybe trying to protect the person who did. However, from the charges standpoint, would his mother be the “witness” that he’s intimidating and if so, what did she witness?
According to a final autopsy report, Fields had no vital signs when she was carried into the Pender Memorial Hospital on the morning of November 13, 2017.
In the M.E. report, emergency room staff “noticed what appeared to be ligature marks on her neck, consistent with strangulation.”
Prevatte is in the Pender County Jail under a $115,000 bond.
