BREAKING NEWS: Sam’s furniture in Jacksonville on fire according to eyewitnesses

4:30 P.M.-JACKSONVILLE PUBLIC SAFETY PRESS RELEASE: Jacksonville Public Safety responded to a report of a commercial fire at Sam’s Used Furniture, 911 Lejeune Boulevard at approximately 1:30 this afternoon. The business was evacuated and utilities were disconnected. Adjacent businesses have also been evacuated. NC Highway 24 east and westbound into the City from Beirut Memorial to Lejuene Motorsports has been closed for safety for responding units. We expect the roadway to be closed down for some time and ask motorists to seek alternate routes.

2:56 P.M.- Officials have closed N.C. 24 in both directions between New River Drive and Hargett Street.

Jacksonville Fire, Police and Onslow County EMS are all on the scene of Sam’s Furniture located at 911 Lejeune Blvd near Sonic and Jacksonville cemetery.

Eye-witnesses tell News In Onslow that the business is fully involved in a fire and Jacksonville ladder trucks are spraying down onto the business from above.
