An Onslow County woman has been charged with giving a man 1st and 2nd degree burns after she had thrown hot grease on him and then returning to her home setting it on fire.
Holly Ridge Police Department said on May 2, 2018, they were dispatched to 204 S. Dyson Street in reference to a domestic assault. Aretha M Shepard had allegedly thrown hot grease on her common-law husband, causing 1st and 2nd-degree burns, according to a press release.
Shepard is also accused of returning to her residence at 305 S. Hines Street and set it on fire, the press release states. Police immediately located Shepard, transported her to the hospital for evaluation and was arrested by Lt. Richards with Holly Ridge Police Department after her release.
She was charged with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and Domestic Assault.
Shepard’s bond was set at $5,000 for AWDW and no bond 48-hour hold for the Domestic Assault, according to release.
