A Hubert man will likely spend a few years in prison after he pleads guilty to felony death by motor vehicle, felony hit-and-run, driving while impaired and failure to maintain lane control in the upcoming days.
Jacob Stephen Dietz, 23, of Onslow County, struck Paige Alees Maxwell while she was walking on Sandridge Road near Swansboro on July 16, 2016. Maxwell was thrown into a ditch after she was struck by Dietz’s’ 2007 Ford F-150.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, alcohol and drugs were, allegedly, factors in the wreck.
A N.C. Highway Patrolman found Dietz’s’ wrecked truck near the intersection of SandRidge and Starling Road where he left it after fleeing the scene of the accident.
Dietz was arrested on Sunday, July 17, 2016, and charged with felony death by motor vehicle, felony hit-and-run, driving while impaired and failure to maintain lane control.
Sadly, Maxwell did not survive the accident.
According to sources, Dietz will be pleading guilty to all aforementioned charges on June 27, 2018, at 2:00 P.M.
