Midway Park man tried to kill his daughter’s boyfriend, charged with attempted first-degree murder

A Midway Park man is facing an attempted first-degree murder charge and two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female.

On January 24, 2018, Michael W. Sanderson, 56, of Tallman Circle in Midway Park was arrested on attempted first-degree murder and two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Department.

Sanderson is alleged to have cut his daughter’s boyfriend who was left with three stab wounds on Jan. 23. The man was transported to Naval Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Sanderson is also accused of assaulting two women who were inside the home at the time. The women were allegedly struck “multiple times in the face with a closed fist,” by Sanderson, according to police warrants.

Sanderson was taken into custody and during his first court appearance, he was provided Jacksonville lawyer Walter Paramore who was appointed by District Court Judge Carol Jones.

His next court date is scheduled for Feb. 14.


Sanderson remains in custody in the Onslow County jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
