A man who recently robbed a convenience store and stole gas a day later has been arrested and charged.
Jack Joseph Pekkala II, 28, of Quail Point Drive in Hubert was arrested March 26, by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office and charged with robbery with a firearm and or dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping and possession of a stolen vehicle.
On March 27, Pekkala was arrested again by OCSO for obtaining property by false pretenses.
He is accused of robbing Moe’s Mart, located at 2105 Belgrade-Swansboro Road around 12:30 p.m. March 14 and taking $200 in cash while brandishing a shotgun. He is accused of driving off in a stolen 2006 Hyundai Tucson which belongs to North Shore Auto Sales in Cedar Point, according to warrants.
Pekkala has also been accused of stealing gasoline from Gogas at 1403 Corbett Ave in Swansboro in the amount of $38.50. He allegedly would select “pay inside” at the pump and after filling up, he would drive away without paying for the gas, according to warrants.
Pekkala will be represented by his court-appointed attorney Mark Raynor.
He remains in the Onslow County Jail under a $102,500 secured bond.
