POLICE: Onslow County Schools threat were out of state and not credible

Update (9:05 A.M.)- Police have determined that the threat causing five Onslow County Schools to be placed on lock down had come from out of state and was not credible. Swansboro High School, Swansboro Middle School, Queens Creek Elementary School, Swansboro Elementary School and Sand Ridge Elementary School were all placed on lock down around 8 a.m. and was lifted by 9 a.m.


Officials have confirmed that multiple Onslow County Schools are on lock down.

Officials say there was a credible threat on social media that prompted the schools lock down.

News In Onslow is learning that a threat to shoot at multiple Onslow County Schools were posted on social media, according to parents. Officials have not confirmed those reports yet.

Swansboro High School, Swansboro Middle School, and Queens Creek Elementary School were locked down. Swansboro Elementary And Sand Ridge Elementary were under a community lockdown in which all outside activities were canceled until further notice.
