The search continues for a missing 3-year-old girl who was last seen in her bed Sunday evening in Jacksonville.
Sheriff Hans Miller stated that an Amber Alert has been issued for Mariah Woods. She is a victim of child abduction.
Woods is a Caucasian female, approximately 2’9” in height and weighs 30 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes.
The aunt of Woods stated that Mariah was put to bed by her mother, and around 9 or 10 p.m. is when Woods was last seen.
This morning, the mother went to check on Mariah, but she was gone.
The aunt said that the mother’s boyfriend, Earl Kimery, may be a person of interest.
According to the aunt, police have taken Kimery down for interrogation twice. She also said that Kimery constantly checks on Mariah throughout the night, especially when she is upset in tears.
“Mariah’s night clothes was beside the bed this morning when she was not found,” according to the aunt. Mariah may be without clothes on and she cannot walk without her orthopedic braces.
A helicopter from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Onslow County deputies, four volunteer fire departments and the Camp Lejeune Provost Marshal’s Office are collectively conducting the search to find Mariah Woods.
