A viral video out of Jacksonville, Florida sparked a lot of outrage from local citizens in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Hundreds of emails, telephone messages, Facebook comments and Google comments were directed in anger towards Jacksonville, N.C. City officials.
The anger and outrage came after Jaguar Power Sports, in Jacksonville, Florida was cited about military flags flying from the business. The owner of the business posted a video on social media that has been circulating around the world. Multiple media outlets in the Florida state area reported the location as Jacksonville, Florida…NOT Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Officials with Jacksonville, North Carolina say they began receiving messages about the incident after 7:00 p.m. when the video was posted and shared.
The city says they received multiple calls this morning and emails about the incident. Also, negative reviews and sharply worded messages also appeared on the City’s Facebook pages.
The city of Jacksonville responded to the outrage in a statement reading below:
“Jacksonville NC is proud of our military. Our Freedom Fountain is dedicated to all who pass through our community in service to their nation. A significant flag garden, with all the service flags, proudly connects the Freedom Fountain to the Lejeune Memorial Gardens, where monuments funded in party by the local governments, memorialize those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and those who served.”
